Sr. Communications/Marketing Specialist

Education:       Bachelor’s required.  Master’s Degree preferred (Business, Communications or English majors preferred, but not required)

 

Job Description/ Job summary:

  • ·      Work closely with the Marketing team to brainstorm and strategize innovative solutions
  • ·      Assist in the creation and coordination of marketing programs, events and launch activities for new products and brand maintenance programs
  • ·         Manage multiple and/or cross-functional marketing and/or product development programs/projects and provide internal company communication and consulting on these programs
  • ·         Develop program/project objectives and plans, and manage to a budget
  • ·         Work with team to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
  • ·         Provides oversight to program/project team members
  • ·         Ensures that progress is tracked, monitored and reported in accordance with project plans
    • ·             Front line for editing
    • ·      Work with the press, crafting appropriate media pitches and follow up
    • ·      Assist in keeping departmental projects flowing and on schedule
    • ·      Provide support as necessary to team for special events
    • ·      Assist in national media outreach to maximize media coverage and develop strategic relationships
    • ·      Draft social media content calendar and assist with social media programs and monitoring
    • ·      Research and identify appropriate sponsorship and promotional opportunities
    • ·      Organize participation in industry events/awards programs

 

Ideal Qualifications:

  • ·         4 or more years in a marketing position or project management position, or equivalent
  • ·         Cross-functional project management experience and demonstrated leadership skills
  • ·         Strong analytical, research and organization skills
  • ·         Ability to prioritize and meet ever changing deadlines
    • ·       Media Relations:
    • ·      Communication skills: Excellent speaking, writing and editing skills required, including the ability to effectively communicate to different audiences
    • ·      Management skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-quality manner while maintaining focus on longer term strategy and deliverables
    • ·      Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting with a range of staff members; willingness to work independently, in ad-hoc teams and with client teams
    • ·      Social media experience: Strong knowledge of social media strategies - including Facebook, Twitter and other new media technologies - including a strong understanding of analytical applications, is preferred
    • ·      Flexibility: Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; multi-task; shift priorities as needed; ability to blend communications knowledge and skills with content and organizational strategy   
    • ·      Excellent computer skills required: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Internet including social media platforms
